Mon 25th Jan 2010Went with a party of 8 last night and had a lovely meal.Service was excellent. Food was served at well timed intervals, we didn't feel at all rushed. The Early Bird menu was excellent value, if I was to suggest anything, it would be a choice of puddings instead of a starter as an alternative course. The most amazing garlic bread I have eaten outside of Italy for a long time, it's thin and crispy as it should be! Very handy that it is on a main bus route, so no need to drive either. We will definitely be back and I will spread the word. |

Good Food, Friendly Staff, Very ImpressedI think there's quite a craze at the moment about San Marcos. It always seems to enter conversations with friends when we discuss Blackpool's best places to eat. The open kitchen is fantastic; I was fortunate enough to be sat close enough to keep an eye on the chefs! And it's fair to say I was impressed at how clean and organised everything looked. The staff are very down to earth and friendly, with relaxed but effective service - it seems like they work and get on together like a family would (doubtless several must be related), which really adds to the hospitality and comfort. We ate on a Thursday night on the earlybird menu at peak time. The restaurant was full yet we recieved both courses in perfectly good time. The new dessert menu is highly reccomended and just goes to show that the restaurant's owners are willing to better the restaurant week by week, which is admirable. I do hope the few disappointed reviewers below aren't put off by their experiences, I don't doubt people feel more compelled to detail bad experiences on these sites than good ones, and I am equally sure that the number of happy customers who dined at San Marcos outweigh the dissapointed ones. |

Never To Be RepeatedWe had a very poor experience at this restaurant. The room was cold. I sat on a fixed seat which was too high for the table and was uncomfortable. Out of approx. 8 waitors, only 1 could serve drinks, which took 20 minutes (even though the restaurant was very quiet). The one who served the drinks didn't take food orders! Another 5 minute wait. We were horrified to observe the state of the pans in the kitchen. The teflon coatings had been scratched off. YUK. I don't believe this coating is good to eat! These pans should have been binned. At this point, my partner wanted to walk out. I persuaded him to stay. The lasagne was fine, the garlic bread with cheese was like a dried up piece of cardboard (with minimal cheese) and the pasta dish was bland and not worth the money. £26.00 for a bad meal. We won't be going back. |

11th Aug 2009I have been a regular client of this restaurant from back when they were locate on Highfield Road. The food itself cannot be faulted in any way at all but what is letting this place down is the service. It is terrible. We waited almost half an hour for our order to be taken, waited another 30 minutes for our starters to arrive and more than another 30 minutes for our main course. We were only having pizza so I don't understand why it took so long. We had to ask twice for more drinks and they were wrong when they arrived. Most of the time all of the waiting staff looked like they couldn't cope and seemed very flustered. It was also noticeable that many of the staff seemed very young (school-leavers?) and out of their depth. Also, our bill showed drinks on there that we had not ordered which we brought to the attention of the staff and the bill was amended accordingly. I fear that the jump from a small restaurant to a much larger one is taking it's toll on San Marco. If they do not do something to address the very poor service, they will lose regular customers like myself...and that would be a shame. Please San Marco, sort out your service. I would hate to see you suffer loss of business because of this when the food is so delightful. |

Horrendous Service 11th August 2009Myself and my friend went to San Marco's and although I can't fault the food, the service was absolutely terrible. After waiting 25 minutes for our order to be taken we asked one of the waitresses if she would take order, I also asked for a small takeout. We then waited about 20 minutes for our starter and then waited 50 minutes for our main course. We had to ask twice for a drink at our table while waiting for our food and then they got the drinks wrong.I also asked 2 different waiters for my takeout order and twice they spoke to the chef. We went to pay the bill and we had drinks on the bill that we had not had and when I enquired about the takeout I was told that they hadn't put the order through into the kitchen. It's such a shame as the food really is good but the service is dreadful. I won't be going here again. |

Wow!what can i say, San Marcos is defiantly my home from home, and i'm sure the staff will agree! They have even given me a nickname, that is just one example of how comfortable the staff make you feel. It is perfect in every way and without a doubt the best resteraunt me and my wife have attended in our long life times and we will still be booking tables for as long as we both shall live. i would recommend San Marcos to anyone with taste and anyone who just needs to appreciate the good things in life. All the best, Your good friend 'Gandalf' |

The Stuff Dreams Are Made OfGhandi once said "an eye for an eye will make the whole world blind" Well I say this - a San Marcos for every town will erradicate short sightedness on an epic scale. After yet another dazzling night at Blackpool's best value for money restaurant, where the wine flows like liquid gold and the food is cooked to perfection, I must once again confirm that the atmosphere is out of this universe. The mushrooms were phenomenal. The salmon tasted like it had been purchased from God's own fishmongers and the sauce mixed by heaven's angels. This is the place to be for the foreseeable future, and is fast becoming a mothership in the Blackpool airfield of small time restaurants. |
