Come to a Pet Protectors Party in Blackpool
Leading veterinary charity PDSA is inviting young supporters from all over the Blackpool area to a fantastic day out where they can have fun and learn more about PDSA’s work caring for sick and injured animals.
The Young PDSA Pet Protectors Club Party at Farmer Parrs Animal World, Fleetwood, is on Saturday 30th August 2008 from 12 noon and will give children and their parents a chance to meet a vet and learn more about caring for animals.
Entry to the farm costs £4.00 for children (under 2’s free) and £4.50 for adults, but children who are already PDSA Pet Protectors Club members get in free and are treated to a party lunch.
The party is one of five being held at great animal-mad venues across the UK this summer, including Perthshire, Belfast, Southampton and Brecon.
Vicki Craighill, Young PDSA Executive, says: “We held our first Pet Protectors party last November and children loved it so much that we decided to hold more. We’d love to see lots of children at Farmer Parrs Animal World as we know how important animals are to them and how they want to care for them properly.”
For an annual fee of £10, members of the PDSA Pet Protectors club receive a personalised membership card, a birthday card, a badge, a free gift and a copy of the fantastic club magazine, Animal Antics, six times a year.
To join the Pet Protectors please contact Vicki Craighill on freephone 0800 019 9144, email petprotectors@pdsa.org.uk, or join online at www.youngpdsa.org.uk

Notes to Editors:
Leading veterinary charity, PDSA provides free veterinary care for the sick and injured pets of those unable to afford veterinary fees and promotes responsible pet ownership. The charity operates a UK-wide network of 47 PetAid hospitals and branches and also works through some 352 contracted private practices (PetAid practices).
This year PDSA PetAid hospitals and branches will provide more than 1.8 million free treatments and more than 200,000 preventive treatments, such as vaccinations, neutering and microchipping. In addition, more than 36,000 pets are registered for PDSA-funded veterinary care through PetAid practices.
In 2008 delivery of PDSA PetAid services will cost more than £48 million. The charity is funded entirely by public support; mainly donations, gifts in wills and trading.
To be eligible for PDSA care, a pet owner must be in receipt of either Housing Benefit or Council Tax Benefit and live within the designated postcode catchment area of their local PDSA PetAid service.
Potential and existing clients can obtain more information on PDSA PetAid services by phoning 0800 731 2502.
PDSA operates 179 charity shops UK-wide and is supported by 4,800 volunteers.
The charity asks that it is referred to by its initials, PDSA, in all editorial rather than by its legal name The People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals.
PDSA and PetAid are registered trademarks of PDSA.
